Concept art for Intel’s Larrabee launch title released

Exclusive – In February of this year, Intel acquired game developer Offset Software and its game engine technology with the obvious goal to deliver a game that can show off the capabilities of its upcoming discrete graphics card, code-named Larrabee. Late Friday we got our hands on new concept art, revealing some of the work that has been done over the past six months and received word that Offset will also be launching a new community to collect feedback from gamers on Monday.

"Analyst Michael Pachter tells Gamasutra that a potentially supply-constrained Wii and a widening price gulf between Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 might give Microsoft a 20 percent sales boost for the holiday season -- but Sony's Julie Han asks us: "How sustainable is that in the long term?"

Cryptic 'definitely interested' in PS3 Champions...

Cryptic Studios is "definitely interested" in releasing a PS3 version of upcoming PC and Xbox 360 superhero MMO Champions Online, the developer said. Speaking during a presentation to press at Leipzig Games Conference last month, Cryptic designer Aaron Safronoff said that the studio "would like to deliver the game to as many platforms" as possible.

Sleeper PC Hit : Sins of a Solar Empire

The big sleeper hit for PC games in 2008 is without question Sins of a Solar Empire. The space strategy game from developer Ironclad Games and publisher Stardock spent a number of weeks early this year on the top 10 best seller lists. Today Gamasutra reports that the game has sold over 500,000 units; 400,000 of those sales came from retail stores and over 100,000 units were from digital download sales. The game itself cost less than a million dollars to create.

Intel needs a console deal to get Larrabee off the ground

SPECULATION FROM INDUSTRY insiders has it that Intel is having significant trouble getting publishers and developers to programme for Larrabee. It seems that the only real way to force the developers’ hands, would be if Intel were to win a contract for a major console, meaning publishers would then have to programme for it.
